Frequently Asked Questions

See our FAQ for more answers.

Can I download sample datasets for the .fun zone?

Yes. Download a sample .fun domain list or a sample .fun dataset.

What is a basic domain list, and how does it differ from a detailed dataset?

Both cover the same 600,181 registered domain names in the .fun zone. A basic list is one domain name per line in a gzip CSV. A detailed dataset adds DNS servers, server IP, hostname, emails, phone numbers, and more. See the dataset format details.

What are active and new domains?

Datasets for .fun are updated daily. Active domains are all currently registered names in the zone. New domains are names added in the last 24 hours.

Can I download only newly registered .fun domains?

Yes. The New domains list contains only the .fun domains registered in the last 24 hours and is rebuilt every day. To download it manually, sign in and click the number in the New domains column of the download table on this page (the Download button next to it gets the full list of active domains). Through the API, call /api2/?method=download&zone_tld=fun&dataset_type=list&filter_type=new&token=YOUR_API_TOKEN (dataset_type=dataset for the detailed dataset); see the API documentation.

What format and size is the file?

Every .fun domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz): the basic list has one domain name per line, the detailed dataset has one row per domain with the columns described in the dataset format details. Compressed, the current .fun basic list is about 3.2 MB and the detailed dataset about 8.1 MB. Any archiver opens gzip files, for example the free 7-Zip on Windows, and the API can also serve the files uncompressed (format=plain).

How do I automate daily downloads?

Schedule automatic downloads through the API. See the API documentation for authentication and endpoints.

Are emails and phone numbers available for every domain?

No. We collect contact details from public websites when available. Many domains have no published email or phone, and we do not guarantee these fields on every row. Do not use the data for unsolicited bulk outreach.

In recent years, many new generic top-level domains were introduced in the digital space. One of the latest released domains is the .fun domain extension. The word fun is linked with excitement and the .fun was built to provide a platform for comedians and businesses with light-hearted content.

.fun was introduced in December 2016, and publicly launched in 2017. At first, it was under the supervision of Oriental Trading Company, and then the administration shifted to Radix on October 4, 2016. It is currently owned and operated by
DotSpace, also known as Radix Registry, which manages multiple generic top-level domains.

Over the years, the .fun domain has gained popularity and is widely used by entertainment websites. It has no geographical or regional restrictions, and anyone worldwide can register for this domain extension. It has no subdomain and gives an appealing impression to individuals, organizations, and businesses.
