What format and size is the file?

Every .xxx domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz): the basic list has one domain name per line, the detailed dataset has one row per domain with the columns described in the dataset format details. Compressed, the current .xxx basic list is about 172 KB and the detailed dataset about 488 KB. Any archiver opens gzip files, for example the free 7-Zip on Windows, and the API can also serve the files uncompressed (format=plain).

After the ICANN board's approval of STLD on March 18, 2011.It was put into operation on April 15, 2011. The .xxx domain entered a sunrise period from 7 Sep,2011- 28 to Oct,2011. It became generally available on December 6, 2011 under the registry operations of ICM Registry LLC.

The.xxx domain, pronounced dot-triple-ecks, was intentionally proposed as a tool to deal with preventing access to sexually explicit content by children or people at workplaces. The formation of this domain was to increase security and keep children away from inappropriate adult content under the guidelines of child pornography. Despite the censorship challenges, approximately 200,000 registrations have been recorded over this domain in 2022.Amidst the controversies, this domain continues to promote the adult entertainment industry.
