What is a basic domain list, and how does it differ from a detailed dataset?
Both cover the same 20,104 registered domain names in the .re zone. A basic list is one domain name per line in a gzip CSV. A detailed dataset adds the nameservers, the server IP and its country, the hostname, emails and phone numbers found on the website, and, where the registry publishes them, the registration and expiration dates and the registrar. What are active and new domains?
Datasets for .re are updated daily. Active domains are all currently registered names in the zone. New domains are names added in the last 24 hours.
Can I download only newly registered .re domains?
Yes. The New domains list contains only the .re domains registered in the last 24 hours and is rebuilt every day. To download it by hand, sign in and click the number in the New domains column of the download table on this page; the Download button next to it fetches the full list of active domains. Through the API, use the download method with the new filter, as described in the API documentation.
What format and size is the file?
Every .re domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz).
The basic list has one domain name per line. The detailed dataset has one row per domain with the additional data listed in the
dataset format details.
The current .re files are about 116 KB (basic list)
and 489 KB (detailed dataset) compressed.
Any archiver opens gzip files; on Windows, for example, the free
7-Zip.
Through the API you can also download the files uncompressed (format=plain).

Are emails and phone numbers available for every domain?
No. We collect contact details from public websites when available. Many domains have no published email or phone, and we do not guarantee these fields on every row. Do not use the data for unsolicited bulk outreach.
Additional .RE Zone / Registry Information
Since its introduction in 1997 the domain has followed Afnic rules. Until December 6, 2011 it was restricted to entities located on the island; since then registration has been open to individuals and companies established in the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, the same eligibility as for .fr.
.re was created for Reunion, so local businesses and institutions use it to emphasise their island identity. It is also used for domain hacks and by companies in real estate, insurance and reverse engineering, since re is a common prefix and abbreviation. Names are registered directly at the second level.
