It was among the very first internationalised country-code TLDs ever delegated, going live in May 2010, and is operated by the Saudi Network Information Center (SaudiNIC) under the Communications, Space and Technology Commission.

The domain allows fully Arabic web addresses, written right-to-left, for Saudi organisations and individuals.
