On June 3, 1992, the Pakistan Network Information Center (PKNIC), located in Lahore, Pakistan, introduced the .pk domain. The sole organization authorized by the Pakistani government to be responsible for .pk domain name administration is PKNIC. PKNIC is a member-based, non-statutory, non-profit organization that was established in June 1992.
