What is a basic domain list, and how does it differ from a detailed dataset?
Both cover the same 74,757 registered domain names in the .hk zone. A basic list is one domain name per line in a gzip CSV. A detailed dataset adds the nameservers, the server IP and its country, the hostname, emails and phone numbers found on the website, and, where the registry publishes them, the registration and expiration dates and the registrar. How often are .hk datasets updated?
The .hk zone is a country-code (ccTLD) zone, and its registry zone file is not directly accessible. NetAPI discovers .hk domains through large-scale crawls: newly discovered domains are added to the list daily, and the full dataset is rebuilt every one to two months. See how updates work.
Can I download only newly registered .hk domains?
Not for this zone. Newly discovered .hk domains are merged into the active list daily, but there is no separate new-domains file for .hk. Daily new-domains lists exist for the zones marked as updated daily in the datasets catalog.
What format and size is the file?
Every .hk domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz).
The basic list has one domain name per line. The detailed dataset has one row per domain with the additional data listed in the
dataset format details.
The current .hk files are about 385 KB (basic list)
and 1.1 MB (detailed dataset) compressed.
Any archiver opens gzip files; on Windows, for example, the free
7-Zip.

Are emails and phone numbers available for every domain?
No. We collect contact details from public websites when available. Many domains have no published email or phone, and we do not guarantee these fields on every row. Do not use the data for unsolicited bulk outreach.

Besides direct second-level names, HKIRC offers categorised subdomains: .com.hk for commercial use, .org.hk for non-profit entities, .net.hk for network providers and .gov.hk for government bodies. The domain is also available to entities worldwide that want to connect with the Hong Kong market, and Chinese-script names under .香港 are run by the same registry.
From its creation until 2002 the domain was administered by the computer centre of the University of Hong Kong, after which HKIRC took over. .hk is the standard extension for an online presence in the territory.
