Frequently Asked Questions

See our FAQ for more answers.

Can I download sample datasets for the .host zone?

Yes. Download a sample .host domain list or a sample .host dataset.

What is a basic domain list, and how does it differ from a detailed dataset?

Both cover the same 29,934 registered domain names in the .host zone. A basic list is one domain name per line in a gzip CSV. A detailed dataset adds DNS servers, server IP, hostname, emails, phone numbers, and more. See the dataset format details.

What are active and new domains?

Datasets for .host are updated daily. Active domains are all currently registered names in the zone. New domains are names added in the last 24 hours.

Can I download only newly registered .host domains?

Yes. The New domains list contains only the .host domains registered in the last 24 hours and is rebuilt every day. To download it manually, sign in and click the number in the New domains column of the download table on this page (the Download button next to it gets the full list of active domains). Through the API, call /api2/?method=download&zone_tld=host&dataset_type=list&filter_type=new&token=YOUR_API_TOKEN (dataset_type=dataset for the detailed dataset); see the API documentation.

What format and size is the file?

Every .host domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz): the basic list has one domain name per line, the detailed dataset has one row per domain with the columns described in the dataset format details. Compressed, the current .host basic list is about 141 KB and the detailed dataset about 480 KB. Any archiver opens gzip files, for example the free 7-Zip on Windows, and the API can also serve the files uncompressed (format=plain).

How do I automate daily downloads?

Schedule automatic downloads through the API. See the API documentation for authentication and endpoints.

Are emails and phone numbers available for every domain?

No. We collect contact details from public websites when available. Many domains have no published email or phone, and we do not guarantee these fields on every row. Do not use the data for unsolicited bulk outreach.

The Radix Registry, a well-known Dubai-based domain name registration company within the Directi Group, introduced the .host domain in 2014. In order to give businesses meaningful and industry-specific domain names, the .host domain extension was developed especially for the hosting community, Internet service Providers, web hosts, ASPs, ISVs, cloud service providers, data centers, and other hosting-related services.

This unusual domain name gained popularity. As of the most recent statistics, this domain has more than 210,000 registrations, a figure that is predicted to rise in the upcoming years. This secured its position as the ideal domain extension for the hosting sector. Within the first week of the .host extension's availability, more than 1,000 domain names were registered, showing the popularity of the extension among its target users.

Anyone in the world can register the .host domain name. This domain extension can enhance the importance of your business by displaying a professional image and being highly reliable.
