Frequently Asked Questions

See our FAQ for more answers.

Can I download sample datasets for the .bot zone?

Yes. Download a sample .bot domain list or a sample .bot dataset.

What is a basic domain list, and how does it differ from a detailed dataset?

Both cover the same 25,736 registered domain names in the .bot zone. A basic list is one domain name per line in a gzip CSV. A detailed dataset adds DNS servers, server IP, hostname, emails, phone numbers, and more. See the dataset format details.

What are active and new domains?

Datasets for .bot are updated daily. Active domains are all currently registered names in the zone. New domains are names added in the last 24 hours.

Can I download only newly registered .bot domains?

Yes. The New domains list contains only the .bot domains registered in the last 24 hours and is rebuilt every day. To download it manually, sign in and click the number in the New domains column of the download table on this page (the Download button next to it gets the full list of active domains). Through the API, call /api2/?method=download&zone_tld=bot&dataset_type=list&filter_type=new&token=YOUR_API_TOKEN (dataset_type=dataset for the detailed dataset); see the API documentation.

What format and size is the file?

Every .bot domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz): the basic list has one domain name per line, the detailed dataset has one row per domain with the columns described in the dataset format details. Compressed, the current .bot basic list is about 103 KB and the detailed dataset about 316 KB. Any archiver opens gzip files, for example the free 7-Zip on Windows, and the API can also serve the files uncompressed (format=plain).

How do I automate daily downloads?

Schedule automatic downloads through the API. See the API documentation for authentication and endpoints.

Are emails and phone numbers available for every domain?

No. We collect contact details from public websites when available. Many domains have no published email or phone, and we do not guarantee these fields on every row. Do not use the data for unsolicited bulk outreach.

A .bot is the top-level domain (TLD) created by Amazon in 2018 for creators and businesses who want to promote their bot-related applications. It is used by bots, chatbots, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI). Users can find websites easily because this domain increases the SEO ranking.

It was created to provide comfortable finding and engagement with chatbots, conversational AI, and other apps. Amazon uses .bot domains to represent interactive features of their cloud-based software. It can enhance branding and make your AI solutions more special. You can improve your website's visibility in searches connected to bots by this domain.

For individuals who need to buy a .bot domain via Amazon Web Services, their bot must deliver unique and valuable functionality to end users. The bot must go through a review process by Amazon before purchasing. This element differentiates .bot from other domains made to maintain quality and trust. There are a total of 14,216 registered domains of .bot until now.
