What format and size is the file?
Every .africa domain list and dataset is a CSV file compressed with gzip (.csv.gz):
the basic list has one domain name per line, the detailed dataset has one row per domain with the columns described in the
dataset format details.
Compressed, the current .africa basic list is about 292 KB and the detailed dataset about 1.1 MB.

In 2012, the application was sent to ICANN. After an exhaustive and complicated application procedure, the African Union Commission and the ZA Central Registry coordination led to the launch of the .africa domain on 11 February, 2017. Later on, it became open for the general public on 4 July, allowing anyone to register this domain name.
From small companies to large multinationals, many different kinds of people and organizations adopt .africa domain today. There were more than 22,000 registration in its first year. Absa was first biggest company to use the .africa domain.
